Dr Rosirene P Gessinger is a medical doctor specialising in aviation medicine and occupational Otorhinolaryngology. She graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1988), followed by her Medical Residency in Otorhinolaryngology (1993), and a Specialisation in Occupational Medicine (1994). She further complemented her curriculum with a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (PUCRS, 2005) and postgraduate courses in Health Auditing (Institute of Hospital Administration and Health Sciences, Porto Alegre, 2009), Health Business Management (Gama Filho University, 2009), Medical Expertise (Faculty of Medical Sciences, Minas Gerais, 2012), and Aerospace Medicine (Estácio de Sá University, São Paulo, 2018). Dr Gessinger has worked within the healthcare and aviation industry for more than 30 years, as a: doctor for 4 years at SESI Porto Alegre; Professor at the Lutheran University of Brazil for 7 years; Otorhinolaryngologist and Aviation Physician at the Ruben Berta Foundation/VARIG airline for 6 years; Medical Auditor at UNIMED Porto Alegre for twelve years; and Aviation Physician at GOL Airlines for 4 years, until 2018. Currently she works for the Brazilian Airline AZUL as an occupational and aviation doctor. Rosirene is very active within the aerospace professional associations, being a member of the Aerospace Medical Association (AsMA), International Airline Medical Association (IAMA), Brazilian Society of Aerospace Medicine (SBMA), and the Portuguese Aerospace Medicine Society (SMAPOR).
