Mauricio Pontes is a Crisis Manager and expert in Operational Safety, devoted to Human and Organisational Factors and Complex Thinking applied to space exploration. He has acted in the airspace industry for more than twenty years and has his own Crisis and Risk Consultant company.
Mauricio holds a Bachelor's degree in Law, as well as subsequently completing postgraduate courses in both Marketing and Business Administration. In addition, he holds certificates from MIT in Crisis Management & Business Resiliency, and the NTSB, among others, such as the Space Academy in Huntsville, Alabama, USA. Mauricio is also an airplane pilot, air accident investigator, analog astronaut, and PADI scuba-diver.
In 2018 he was considered to be a reference in his field by the US government and was, therefore, able to take part in the prestigious International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP), the US Department of State’s premier professional exchange program. Mauricio is a member of the Planetary Society, Mars Society, American Astronautical Society and the Analogue Astronaut Community. He is also a professional speaker and teaching professional, based in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
