Kids2Mars Mission 1 gave a little taste of a Mars analog mission to children from 11 nations - enabling them to pose questions about Mars and Mars exploration to the Commander and crew of the Mars Society Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS), set in the Utah USA desert. The analog astronauts of Crew 185, led by biomedical engineer and final-year PhD candidate Ilaria Cinelli, were isolated for two weeks in December 2017, where they conducted scientific and research activities, and existed on limited supplies under conditions that simulated the harsh environment of the planet Mars.
