The children had many questions
|
A recent Kids2Mars Mission involved children from the Orfanotrófio neighbourhood of Porto Alegre, Brazil. Space is always a very exciting subject for the children and those from the Orfanotrófio region were certainly very curious about space and the planets.
For the first lecture, Professor Adriana Bos-Mikich taught the children from this district in Porto Alegre all about the Solar System, discussing each of the planets. In the second lecture, they learned about the life of astronauts in space and the spacesuits used in missions, through a virtual lecture given by Rolland Duarte de Souza, a pilot and medical doctor, and part of the InnovaSpace team of professionals. |
For the next class, the children created a space suit using recyclable material or scrap, such as boxes, plastic bottles and cardboard. Finally, for the last activity in this series, the children used their artistic skills to colour in the figure of an astronaut.
This edition of the InnovaSpace Kids2Mars educational activity formed part of an extension project for the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), and was organized and performed by Professor Adriane Bos-Mikich. Kids2Mars aimed to stimulate the minds of the children living in the community of the Orfanotrófio neighborhood of Porto Alegre to learn about space science. |
